The journey to marriage beings with a proposal and a yes! Carly has been visiting the little seaside town of Augusta since she was born. A destination much loved by her family, who are now a part of the community as residents, becoming Carly and Jordan’s second home. It was a natural progression that on a Summers night in December that Jordan proposed to Carly over a sunset drink on the beautiful beach of Hamelin Bay.. and so it was agreed a Summer wedding would be perfect, close to the place they love.
All three rings were crafted by a family friend and jeweller, Lawrence Sabre from Babushka Designs in Perth.
Carly and Jordan settled on Margaret River Retreat for their wedding day and celebrations. A rural property within reach of the majestic Boranup Forest National Park on Wadandi Boodja. A character-filled, white weatherboard enclave wraps around a circular and enclosed garden, space that is ideal for a marquee wedding and all that they wished to include. Offering accommodation of self-contained, styled cabins alongside the dedicated glamping ground, the wedding party and guests were welcomed to stay onsite.
Yallingup Event Hire set the scene for the reception with the fabulous Hampton tent. The stylish curves and sculpted peaks of sail cloth and timber poles created a modern, open-air space that glowed with soft light as the afternoon dipped into the evenings celebrations on the timber dance floor. A space that was designed and styled to fit seamlessly into the natural Margaret River Retreat landscape.
MADE WITH LOVE: Cake by Carly, the Bride, sweets, desserts by family, friends and a grazing table by family friend, Rachael Patterson.
STYLE NOTES: ”Modern, rustic and relaxed. We went for mostly neutral tones with florals to include my favourite colour orange. Along with alfresco woodfired oven pizzas and a vintage caravan bar serving fabulous espresso martini’s between speeches, to kick off the party! The result was a relaxed and fun celebration.”
ON REFLECTION: ”We both absolutely loved everything about the day, although a few moments definitely stood out including our bridal party photos at Contos Cliffs after the ceremony as there’s something so special about just spending that time with your best friends; and photographer Gordon Becker made everyone feel so relaxed. Speeches were the other highlight. We still talk about them often. My dad wrote a poem as his speech and our best man was hilarious; Jordan and I both had stomach cramps from laughter! It was honestly just the best day ever having all of our favourite people in one room.”
ADVICE FOR SOON-TO-BE-WEDS: ”Where do I begin? I think the best advice for the day would be to have fun and make sure you take a moment to yourselves to take it all in – it really does go so fast! I would recommend using a wedding planner spreadsheet to create a budget – to help keep track of our deposits, invoices and those little expenses that keep adding up! The day is 100% yours and you have the ability to personalise it as much as you like – there are literally no rules!”
