As you drive into the forest-meets-ocean town of Margaret River you may not even realise that, hidden in the tall trees to your right, are bubbling stills producing internationally awarded gins. The Margaret River Distilling Company is nestled into nature, surrounded by peppy trees, green lawns, and a bubbling winter brook – and it is open every day of the week to locals and visitors alike!
The Margaret River location is an expansion of the Great Southern Distilling Company, who create the award-winning Limeburners whisky brand. This sister distillery is the home of Giniversity gin, internationally awarded and beloved by Australian gin drinkers – visitors to the distillery can sample and buy at our cellar door. We also offer tastings of GSDC’s Limburgers and Tiger Snake whiskies, craft cocktails, local beer, cider, wine, coffee AND a delicious menu of fresh, local gourmet food daily! Visitors can even become an honorary distiller for a day! Master the history of gin, nourish your artistic flare, and learn more about the art of distilling in this hands-on experience. For the serious aficionado’s, the “Post Grad” will allow you to design and distil a custom gin recipe with a whole range of botanicals, as well as lunch, a guided tour, tastings of our range AND you’ll leave with your very own 500ml bespoke gin! The “Under Grad” session is a more compact version (but you’ll still leave with a custom gin of your own creation!). It’s the perfect way to spend a few weekend hours during a stay away in Margaret River – you can even stay just up the hill at Riverglen Chalets, ensuring you only have a minute to walk after a day making gin. It’s rather convenient, we agree!
Located just off Carters Road on Maxwell Street, Margaret River.
